This volume is divided into two parts: the first one about the study and
analysis of structures needing retrofitting or strengthening, the second
one about general information about composite materials available for
the civil engineering market and in use in our market.
The first part deals with non destructive and partially destructive testing
on construction materials and structures in general, offering a large
variety of case studies and examples, supported by pictures, analysis
and technical bibliography. Such analysis is fundamental in order to know
and define the characteristics of the “patient-structure”
for a diagnosis oriented to a correct design of the strengthening and/or
retrofitting and/or restoration solution of that particular structure.
The second part defines a sort of procedure “design-installation-monitoring”
for composite materials, providing data about the physical and mechanical
properties of the materials, obtained from real case studies and field
experience on the use of such materials in civil engineering. All of this
is also provided with many pictures, structural schemes, diagrams that
enrich and allow any readers to have a complete view of the material and
easily access this new technology. |
